Fishing aboard the Rhino Charger
She's got it
all. Shade, tuna tower and open cockpit with fighting room for 6 to fish.

She's a 30-foot Island Hopper powered by a 450hp turbo diesel Cummings engine with top speed of 30 knots. But The Rhino Charger is more than fast. She's comfortable. Her legendary 12-foot beam means she rides dry with plenty of shade. The huge open fishing cockpit allows enough fighting room to fish up to 6 people. And below deck, there's a V berth cabin and head for privacy. Custom designed in 2005, the American built Rhino Charger is as tough as her name, extremely stable and able to withstand anything the sea can dish out.
Rigged for tournament class fishing, we use all new Shimano 30 lb to 50 lb stand up tackle. Equipment includes outriggers, fighting chair, transom door for those big ones, dive platform, dual Furno fish finders and enclosed tuna tower with full electronics. We carry all USCG safety equipment plus VHF radios, dual Furno GPS, chart plotters, auto pilot, global positioning emergency locator, on board international and local telephones. And of course, we are fully insured.
A fun and
rewarding day aboard the Rhino Charger. We hunt fish!
Our homeport is Tamarindo Bay where both in shore and off shore fishing is spectacular. The "traditional" season is mid-April through August. While on land these months may bring brief afternoon rains, for fisherman they offer the shortest run-time, good weather with calm seas and fishing for all species. The dry season, December through April, can trigger windy conditions. While keeping the beaches and towns cool in the summer sun, high winds often demand a 45-60 minute run south to reach calm seas and outstanding fishing. This is sometimes considered to be the "marlin and tuna season" although we catch both year-round.
We offer 9-hour full day and 5-hour half day sportfishing charters. However, a full day is recommended when targeting billfish. We do practice "catch and release" to protect these amazing species. But whatever food species you catch, it's your choice whether to release or have them cooked up at one of the local restaurants. You'll probably be hungry even though a hearty lunch is included on full day charters. Bait, tackle, ice, soft drinks, water and beer are also stocked on board without charge. If you fly fish, you'll need to bring your own tackle.
They'll be
feasting tonight! Have your catch cooked up at one of our local
restaurants.
Our skipper is Captain Tony Lautieri. An enthusiastic guide and 25 year ocean veteran with both commercial and sport fishing experience, Tony maintains his USCG 100 ton masters license and certification. He and his crew are intimate with the Pacific waters and welcome all levels of anglers.
We invite you to come and land the fish of your dreams on board the newest and most comfortable boat sailing out of Tamarindo Bay. The Rhino Charger. See our reservations page for rates and contact information.
